Mappi Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in the southern portion of Papua Province of Indonesia. It was split off from Merauke Regency (of which it had been a component part) on 12 November 2002. It covers an area of 24,118.00 km2, and had a population of 81,658 at the 2010 Census;[1] the latest official estimate (as at January 2014) is 100,479. The administrative centre is the town of Kepi.
