Mamqan (Persian: ممقان; also Romanized as Mamqān and Mamaqān; also known as Māmāgān) [2] is a city and capital of Mamqan District, in Tabriz County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 13,365, in 6,258 families. The city is composed of 4 districts (Amshaj, Mazidloo, Yookhari Mahale (north district), Ashagha Choocha (south district)).
The majority of the inhabitants speak Azari, but a few migrants speak Kurdish.
