Maëva Coucke (born 28 June 1994) is a French model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss France 2018. She will represent France in Miss World 2018.

Coucke was the third woman representing Nord-Pas-de-Calais to win Miss France within a span of four years. The previous Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais to win was Miss France 2016 and Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere.

Life and career

Early life

Coucke was born in Fougères, Ille-et-Vilaine on 28 June 1994.[1][2] Her father is a gendarme, while her mother, Brigitte Wagon, is a family assistant originally from Avesnes-sur-Helpe.[3] Her parents divorced when she was 13, and she was then raised by her mother.[4] She is a natural blonde, but has been dying her hair red since 2016.[5][6]

Coucke was raised in Ferques, in Pas-de-Calais. She has an older sister named Victoria, and a twin sister named Alizée.[7] Coucke attended high school in Saint-Martin-Boulogne, and later received a BTS in international law.[8] She is currently studying for her law degree at Lille 2 University of Health and Law in order to become a corporate lawyer.[2]

Pageantry

Coucke began her pageantry career in 2013, when she was crowned Miss Boulogne 2013. She later was crowned Miss Foire Expo 2014, and also was a runner-up in Miss Mining Country and Miss South Opal Coast.[8] In October 2016, Coucke was crowned Miss Pévèle 2016 and was given the right to compete in the Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2017 competition.[9]

On 23 September 2017, she went on to be crowned Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais 2017 in Orchies and received the right to represent Nord-Pas-de-Calais in Miss France 2018.[10] Coucke went on to win the competition, and was crowned Miss France 2018.[11][12][13] She is the third woman from Nord-Pas-de-Calais to win the title, following Miss France 2016 Iris Mittenaere and Miss France 2015 Camille Cerf.[14][15]

She will represent France at Miss World 2018.[16]
