Khadaklat is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India.[1][2] It is located in the Chikodi taluk of Belgaum district in Karnataka.It is located at a distance of 88 km from the district headquarters, 18 km from tehsil Chikkodi, 14 km from nearest city Nippani and 40 km from Kolhapur city in Maharashtra State. It was part of the then Kapashi Sansthan, most part of which is now part of the Maharashtra state, while Khadaklat was included in Karnataka. Kannada is the administrative language. The village is well known for its communal harmony. Yearly 'Urus' celebration is a great symbol of Hindu-Muslim brotherhood with both the communities celebrating it with equal zeal and enthusiasm. Main temples in Khadaklat include Mahadev Mandir, Vashikan mandir, Biradev mandir,Virupakshling, Mahalaxmi, Vitthal-Rakhumai mandir. Dargah is in itself a master piece of Adilshahi architecture. Khadaklat is a hometown of veteran Marathi/Hindi actress SULOCHANA ji, she spent her childhood in gallis of Khadaklat. BUSINESS: Agriculture is the main business here, Khadaklat being better known for top quality tobacco production, used in manufacturing BEEDI. Other common crops include beetle nut, ground nut, jowar-bajri and sugarcane. Farms are mainly dependent on rain water although ground water and canal water also being used to some extent. EDUCATION, ENTERTAINMENT: Khadaklat has schools up to 10th std in Marathi, Kannada and Urdu medium. It also has Marathi Girls' school up to 7th std. Recently a Junior College has come up much to the benefit of not only local students but also those from villages in vicinity of Khadaklat. Only entertainment to villagers is The Santaji Chitramandir (Theater), although almost every home now bears a TV set and cable network like in any other part of India.
New Gram Panchayat building has come up in outskirts of village with good ambience, much to the pleasure of villagers. Just beside the new Panchayat building is the site of concrete built bazaar, where weekly vegetable bazaar gathers on every Wednesday, facilitating villagers to buy Farmಇ Fresh vegetables and fruits at reasonable prices.ಖಡಕಲಾಟ ಕನಾರ್ಟಕರಾಜ್ಯದ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ದ ಗಡಿಗೆ ಇರವಂತ ಸುಂದರ ಅಪ್ಪಟ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಹಿಂದೆ ಈ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಸುಲ್ತಾನ್ ರ ಆಳಿಕೆ ನಂತರದ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಾಠಾರ ಆಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಒಳಪಟ್ಟು ಭಾಷಾವಾರು ಪ್ರಾಂತ ರಚನೆಯ ವೇಳೆ ಅಪ್ಪಟ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷಿಕರಿಂದ ತಂಬಿದ ಈ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಕನಾರ್ಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಿತು .ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಜನರು ಕೃಷಿಕರಾಗಿದಾರೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ತಂಬಾಕು ಬೆಳೆ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಉತಷ್ರ್ಟ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಬಹು ಬೆಡಿಕೆಯ ಬೆಳೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಊಳಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ವೀಳೆದ ಏಲೆ ಬಿಳಿ ಜೋಳ ಶೇಂಗಾ ಕಬ್ಬು ಮೆಕ್ಕೆಜೋಳ ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಬೆಳ್ಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಯುತಾರೆ
Demographics
As of 2001 India census, Khadaklat had a population of 11540 with 5827 males and 5713 females.[1] Khadaklat is one of the main village in the chikodi taluka of the belgaum district. It is situated near the Laxmi temple one of good place to visit. As of 2011 Census, Total Population of Khadaklat is 13921.Kothali Shanthi aashram,Basadi which are 5 km from khadaklat.these two places are good to see.
