Gandhipuram Central Town Bus Terminus popularly known as Gandhipuram Bus Terminus, is one of the bus terminus of Coimbatore City.The Terminus serves For the city buses also.
History
Town buses started operating in 1921 and serve most parts of the city, as well as other towns and villages in the district.A Central Bus Stand was started in 1974 at Gandhipuram, Due to increase in population and vehicular traffic, additional Bus Stands were started in Ukkadam & Singanallur. Now buses bound for north and east directions ply from this Gandhipuram Bus Stand.
This bus stand is centrally located in the city. Many Lodges, Cinema Theatres and Town Bus Stand are nearby.

Gandhipuram Central Bus stand
It is the bus terminal for north-east bound and north buses such as towards Salem,Erode,Hosur,Namakkal,Gobichettipalayam , Sathyamangalam, Mettupalayam,Tirupur and east bound buses such as towards Dharapuram and Karur.The number of inter-city routes operated by Coimbatore division is 119 with a fleet of more than 500 buses.[2]

Long Distance Video Coach Buses operated by private firms were starting from various Places of the city. For the conveniene of the travellers a centralised bus stand for such omni buses was opened in June 2006, at Sathy Road, Opposite to GP Theatre.This Omni Bus Stand is 0.5 km from Gandhipuram Bus Stand and State Express Transport Corporation Bus Stand. Facilities – Rest Room, Toilet, STD booths, Offices etc.

The terminus is connected to,Saibaba Colony Bus Terminus which is about 3.5 kilometres, Ukkadam Bus Terminus which is about 4.5 kilometres,Singanallur Bus Terminus about 10 kilometres.The terminus is connected also connected to Coimbatore Junction railway station,which is about 3.0 kilometres and Coimbatore International Airport is about 9.2 kilometers.
