East Surrey Hospital is a National Health Service hospital, located in the Whitebushes area of Redhill, in Surrey, England. It is part of the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.[2]
History
East Surrey Hospital was opened in 1981[3] as a replacement for a previous Incarnation at Whitepost Hill in Reigate and for Redhill General Hospital, at Earlswood Common, as well as Smallfield Cottage Hospital. The second phase of building opened in 1991, and further additions have taken place over the years the last being 2017.
Services
The hospital, a designated trauma centre, offers a wide range of medical services including 24-hour Accident and Emergency, Intensive Care and High Dependency Units, gynaecology, obstetrics, midwifery and maternity services, paediatrics and diagnostic imaging, as well as the usual general surgery services.[4] As the nearest accident and emergency to London's Gatwick Airport, it is placed on standby when a serious aircraft incident is expected, and regularly receives travellers with diseases not commonly encountered in the UK.

Radio Redhill is a hospital radio station broadcasting to the patients and staff of the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, Surrey. It is available on 1431 AM, online and on the hospital's internal radio system.
Broadcasting 24 hours a day, Radio Redhill has patient request programmes from 8:30 to 10 pm Monday to Saturday and from 10 am to 12 pm Sundays. A patient request programme dedicated to classical music is broadcast each Sunday evening at 7 pm. There are a wide variety of other programmes including local and national news, classical programmes, talk, relaxing tunes, factual, music related and birthday stars.
The station was winner of the gold Station of the Year award at the Hospital Broadcasting Awards in 2005.[6]
