Biography

Early years

Brajesh Pathak's journey began in the town of Mallawan in Central Uttar Pradesh Hardoi district. Born on 25 June 1964, Brajesh Pathak is the 5th among the 7 children of Kamla and Suresh Pathak. Brajesh Pathak’s childhood was one of immense struggle and difficulty. Yet, these hardships did not deter Brajesh Pathak. He remained a devoted student, always eager to learn something new. From his younger days, Brajesh Pathak was drawn towards serving the society. It was his passion that drew Brajesh Pathak to the Lucknow University Student Union.

As a youngster, Brajesh Pathak participated in the LUSU election in 1988-1990, which was a strong social movement to uplift students of backward category. Brajesh Pathak made a distinguished mark due to his organisational & leadership skills during lathi-charge on Basantotsav in 1987 for the students of backward category. He was also jailed during the Emergency imposed in consequence of that incident. He was elected as Vice President LUSU in 1989 & President in 1990. His exposure to politics in students life brought him forward and he fought UP State assembly election in the year of 2002 & faced a defeat with the minor difference of 130 votes.

Politics

However, it was not until 1987- 2002 at LUSU & State Assembly, that Brajesh Pathak’s first brush with politics occurred. In 2004 he was asked to work for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and became the Member of Parliament. In the next few years he was entrusted with responsibility of organising the party’s activities to entire Utter Pradesh.

His organisational work in the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections reaped fruits when the BSP’s tally shot up & formed the government. The increase in the vote share was also significant. In 2012.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution towards the Party organisation, Brajesh Pathak was elevated to higher rank in the BSP and given charge of various departments. The BSP and its allies improved their performance and even formed governments in Utter Pradesh. In 2007.

A fresh chapter was written in Shri Pathak’s life when his contribution was under-estimated & all the suggestions were taken very lightly and felt him as if lost amid dictatorship, individual centric politics, low social welfare esteem & structural differences.

His natural inclination towards current government rose to the peak & he finally made a giant move of his political career and joined BJP on 23 August 2016. His entry in BJP was heroic and earned strength to BJP for upcoming election in 2017.

On 9 September 2015, he and other state BSP leaders argued with police over the murder of the leader of the Unnao BSP chapter, Aditya Lodhi, arguing that the police did not act fast enough to stop his murder despite a complaint.
