Ampullavirus is a genus of viruses, in the family Ampullaviridae. Genus Acidianus serve as natural hosts. There are currently only one species in this genus: the type species Acidianus bottle-shaped virus.[1][2][3]
Taxonomy
Group: dsDNA
Order: Unassigned
- Family: Ampullaviridae
- Genus: Ampullavirus
Structure
Viruses in Ampullavirus are enveloped. Genomes are linear, around 239kb in length. The genome has 56 open reading frames.[2][3]
Genus | Structure | Symmetry | Capsid | Genomic arrangement | Genomic segmentation |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ampullavirus | Bottle-shaped | Enveloped | Linear | Monopartite |
Life cycle
Viral replication is cytoplasmic. Entry into the host cell is achieved by virus attaches to host cell. Dna templated transcription is the method of transcription. Bacteria of the archaeal genus Acidianus serve as the natural host. Transmission routes are passive diffusion.[2][3]
Genus | Host details | Tissue tropism | Entry details | Release details | Replication site | Assembly site | Transmission |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ampullavirus | Archea: acidianus | None | Injection | Budding | Cytoplasm | Cytoplasm | Passive diffusion |
