The 2016–17 Galatasaray season was the club's 113rd in existence and 59th consecutive season in the Süper Lig. The club will be aiming for an unprecedented 21st Süper Lig title after finishing the Süper Lig sixth place in previous season.

In Europe, Galatasaray will not be present in any competition. They will compete in a domestic cup, the Turkish Cup.

  • On 27 May 2016, it is announced that midfielder Emre Çolak has been transferred to Deportivo de La Coruña.[1]
  • On 28 May 2016, Galatasaray revealed its pre-season summer camp schedule. The camp schedule for the Galatasaray professional football team prior to the next football season begins on 1 July at their training ground, Florya Metin Oktay Sports Complex and Training Center.[2]
  • On 22 June 2016, it is announced that Galatasaray have begun official negotiations regarding the transfer of Serdar Aziz of Bursaspor.[3] The original bid was reported as €4.5 million, with Aziz set to receive an annual salary of €2 million.[4]
  • On 27 June 2016, it is announced that the contracts of Bilal Kısa, Furkan Özçal and Sercan Yıldırım have been terminated by Galatasaray.[5]
  • On 28 June 2016, it is announced that Emre Can Coşkun has been sold to Göztepe for a €50,000 transfer fee.[6]
