สนิม

From corruption of Old Khmer thniṃ, tniṃ, thnyaṃ (“regalia, finery, ornament worn by a god, sovereign, etc”). Compare Modern Khmer ធ្នឹម (thnɨm).

     The rust of an iron originates from within the iron itself and will devour it that it becomes ruined, just as a sin that originates from the sinner himself and will return ill results to him.
