From Old Occitan [Term?] (compare Occitan calhar), from Vulgar Latin *coaglāre, *quaglāre (compare French cailler, Spanish cuajar), from Latin coāgulāre, present active infinitive of coāgulō. Doublet of coagular, a borrowing.
