Southampton FC in het seizoen 2012/13

Het seizoen 2012/2013 was het 79ste seizoen van Southampton FC in het Engelse voetbal en het 35ste in de hoogste afdeling van het land. Het was het eerste seizoen dat de club uit Southampton weer uitkwam in de hoogste divisie van het Engelse profvoetbal, de Premier League, na de degradatie in 2005. Trainer-coach Nigel Adkins kreeg op 17 januari 2013, daags na het 2-2 gelijkspel tegen Chelsea, zijn ontslag van de clubleiding. Onder zijn leiding kende de nieuwkomer een slechte start: de eerste vier wedstrijden gingen een voor een verloren. Geruime tijd verkeerde Southampton in degradatienood. In het toernooi om de FA Cup ging Southampton in de derde ronde met 5-1 kansloos onderuit tegen Chelsea. Adkins moest plaatsmaken voor Mauricio Pochettino. Hij leidde The Saints uiteindelijk naar de veilige veertiende plaats in de eindrangschikking. Middenvelder Morgan Schneiderlin werd door de supporters van de club aan het einde van het seizoen uitgeroepen tot Speler van het Jaar.
