Van het kasteel werd het eerst melding gemaakt tijdens de verwoesting door Gijsbrecht van Amstel in 1274. Het kasteel is later herbouwd geweest maar heden zijn enkel nog de fundamenten zichtbaar in het landschap met daar omheen de herstelde slotgracht.
