History

Northbridge International School of Cambodia was founded in 1996 and opened in September 1997 with Mr. David Eaton as its first school head.[2] The school was initially owned by Northbridge Communities Ltd., with its base of operations located in Bangkok, Thailand name of NIST. In 2003, French ceased to be the official second language of Cambodia, further encouraging the Cambodian elite to educate their children in English in international schools like Northbridge International School Cambodia.[3] In February 2007 the entire Northbridge project – housing community and international school – was purchased by The Royal Group located in Cambodia. NISC is a proprietary educational institution fully licensed as an international school with the Cambodian Ministry of Education under the name of International School Cambodia, Ltd.

In July 2014 the school became a part of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools which has 66 international schools around the world.[4]

School Life

NISC is divided into three sections: Primary Years Programme (from EL2 to Grade 5), Middle Years Programme (from Grade 6 to Grade 10), and IB Diploma (Grade 11 to 12), which are all located on the same purpose-built campus. The school offers a large number of after-school activities and sports teams. NISC competes against other member schools in sports such as football (soccer), tennis, volleyball, basketball, and swimming. NISC has an active student MUN Model United Nations whose delegates also attend international conferences.

Northbridge is the only school in Cambodia to offer unique global opportunities to students and staff through Nord Anglia Education (NAE) family of schools around the world. Students are able to develop effective global citizenship through accessing and using our Global Campus. This is a Nord Anglia initiative which helps develop higher order thinking skills and connects students with other Nord Anglia students through online interaction and exchanges in locations such as New York and Tanzania. Other important collaboration included the Juilliard School, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and UNICEF help to enrich the curriculum far beyond tradition education and prepared students for an exciting future.
