List of administrative units of Pakistan by Human Development Index
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite statistic used to rank some area by level of "human development" and separate developed (Very High development), developing (High and Medium development), and underdeveloped (Low development) areas. The statistics is composed from data on life expectancy, education and per-capita GNI (as an indicator of standard of living) collected at the national level.
In Pakistan, Islamabad Capital Territory has the highest HDI in the country. Its HDI score of 0.678 places it firmly within the Medium Human Development category, on par with the country of Morocco (0.676). It is followed by Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Punjab, all of whom also have a Medium level of Human Development. The remaining regions of Pakistan have a Low level of Human Development, with Balochistan and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) having the lowest levels of Human Development in the country.
