Bailte Seirbhíse Gaeltachta

Bailte Seirbhíse Gaeltachta is the Irish language term for Gaeltacht Service Towns whose enactments were legislated under the Gaeltacht Act 2012. In 2016 it was announced that Galway City, Dingle and Letterkenny would be the first designated Bailte Seirbhíse Gaeltachta subject to local networks co-formulating and adopting approved Irish language plans in conjunction with Foras na Gaeilge and Údarás na Gaeltachta.[1][2] Cork city, Dungarvan, Tralee and Castlebar were later added to the list of Bailte Seirbhíse Gaeltachta.

The first language plan for a Baile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta was expected to be launched in Autumn 2019, with a plan for Letterkenny by December 2019, a plan for Cork City ready in May 2020 and a plan for Tralee to be published in July 2020.
