History
It was a purpose built village, constructed in the 1970s. The civil parish was created in 1991; before this it was divided between the unparished area of Chorley and the parish of Euxton.[2]
Community
Astley Village has become well known due to Astley Park, which hosted the Royal Lancashire Show for a number of years. The village is roughly half a mile away from the nearest supermarket, the town centre of Chorley and the M61 being slightly further.
Long Croft Meadow backs onto Chorley Hospital, and the main road through the village is Chancery Road. The village is bypassed via West Way (B5252), a link road built in 1983 to 1984 to take traffic off the busy Chancery Road.
