KÍ are the defending champions, having won their 18th Faroese title in the previous season. The season was scheduled to start on 8 March[1] and later postponed to 15 March,[2] because of the outbreak of coronavirus in the Faroe Islands. The season started on 9 May[3] and is scheduled to end on 7 November 2020. This was decided after there had been no reported case of Covid-19 in the Faroe Islands from 6 April to 18 April. Nobody has died of covid-19 in the Faroe Islands as of 22 April 2020.[4]
The Norwegian TV2 will broadcast matches from the first 12 rounds.[5]
