Zichang County (simplified Chinese: 子长县; traditional Chinese: 子長縣; pinyin: Zǐcháng Xiàn) is a county in the north Shaanxi province, China. It is the northernmost county-level division of the prefecture-level city of Yan'an. It had an estimated population of 240,000 people residing in an area of 2,405 km2 (929 sq mi) in 2004. Formerly called Anding County (安定县), it was renamed in 1942 to commemorate the Communist martyr Xie Zichang. It has a population of 273,000, of which 115,000 live in the county seat.[1]
