There are light-skinned or White Angolans mostly Angolans of European descent most significantly from Portugal. This population also includes White Brazilians of European Ancestry. Additional white Angolans emigrated from Eastern Europe when the country was a communist republic, in particular Russians and Poles. For a long time a significant community of Afrikaners lived in southern Angola, but most left in and after 1975.

Currently, Whites are a minority ethnic group in Angola, accounting for 1% of the country's population.[1] The White population usually speaks Portuguese.[2][3][4]
