Wallsend was a parliamentary constituency centred on Wallsend, a town on the north bank of the River Tyne in North Tyneside.

It returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1918 until it was abolished for the 1997 general election.

It was partly replaced by the new Newcastle upon Tyne East and Wallsend constituency and North Tyneside constituency.

Boundaries

1918-1950: The Borough of Wallsend, and the Urban Districts of Gosforth, Longbenton, and Weetslade.

1950-1983: The Borough of Wallsend, and the Urban Districts of Gosforth and Longbenton. Weetslade Urban District had been absorbed by Longbenton Urban District in 1935, but the constituency boundaries remained unchanged.

1983-1997: The Borough of North Tyneside wards of Battle Hill, Benton, Camperdown, Holystone, Howdon, Longbenton, Northumberland, Valley, Wallsend, and Weetslade.
