Vani Viswanath (born 13 May 1971) is an Indian film actress. She joined in Telugu Desam party in Andhra Pradesh.[1] Vani won the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress for her performance in Susanna, directed by T. V. Chandran.[2] She was termed as Mollywood's "Action Queen".[3]

Early life

Vani was born as the fourth among the five children of Chennai-settled Malayali parents Thazhathuveettil Vishwanathan, an astrologer and Girija, a housewife in Ollur, Thrissur in 1971. When she was 13, her father predicted through astrology that she will become an actor and also she will enter into the politics.[4] Her mother hails from Ernakulam District and her father hails from Thrissur District.[5] She has four siblings. She studied at Thrissur till fourth grade, later the family shifted to Madras and continued her education there till tenth grade. She got her first role while she was studying in tenth grade and hence she discontinued her studies and concentrated on her movie career.[6]

Career

She has appeared predominantly in Malayalam and Telugu movies. She acted in The king with Mammotty. She also appeared in Kannada and Tamil movies. She was among the big stars of her time in the South. Her Tollywood movie Gharana Mogudu with Tollywood superstar, Chiranjeevi was a huge hit. Vani is trained in fighting and martial arts and has fought even several men bravely in the films. Vani also acted in two Hindi movies with Superstar Mithun Chakraborty in Jung and Bhishma.

Horse Riding Profession

Vani Viswanath was a professional horse rider before entering movies. She won several horse riding competitions. She is also a famous Bullet motorcycle rider, who participated in several bullet races.

Personal life

While acting for several films with Baburaj, she fell in love with him. The couple got married in in 2002 and have two children, Aarcha (born in 2004) and Adhri (born in 2008).[7]
