List of ''The X Factor'' finalists (UK series 14)

The fourteenth UK series of The X Factor began on ITV on 2 September 2017. The live shows started on 28 October. The sixteen chosen finalists were Sam Black, Lloyd Macey, Leon Mallet, Spencer Sutherland, Alisah Bonaobra, Grace Davies, Holly Tandy, Rai-Elle Williams, Talia Dean, Kevin Davy White, Tracyleanne Jefford, Matt Linnen, The Cutkelvins, Jack and Joel, Sean & Conor Price, and Rak-Su.

Louis Walsh mentored the boys (Sam, Lloyd, Leon, and Spencer), Sharon Osbourne mentored the girls (Alisah, Grace, Holly, and Rai-Elle), Nicole Scherzinger mentored the overs (Talia, Kevin, Tracyleanne, and Matt) and Simon Cowell mentored the groups (The Cutkelvins, Jack and Joel, Sean and Conor Price, and Rak-Su).

Boys

Louis Walsh mentored the boys category of male soloists aged 14 to 27. The six candidates at judges' houses were: Sam Black, Lloyd Macey, Leon Mallett, Aidan Martin, Jack Mason, and Spencer Sutherland. Walsh chose Black, Macey, and Sutherland to progress to the live shows. Mallett later advanced as one of the public's wildcards.

Sam Black

Sam Black, (born 20 November 1989) aged 28, is a plasterer from the Isle of Man. He was originally eliminated during the second round of bootcamp, but was brought back in the competition after contestant Anthony Russell withdrew prior to judges' houses.[1] In the seventh live show, Black performed "Oops" by Little Mix, but received one of the fewest of public votes, being eliminated in a double elimination alongside Sean and Conor Price.

In his first audition, he performed "Runaround Sue" by Dion, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Lloyd Macey

Lloyd Macey (born 28 November 1993), aged 25, is a singer from Ynyshir, Porth in the Rhondda Valleys.[2] He is a student of Buddug Verona James.[3] Following the eliminations of Spencer Sutherland in week 1, Leon Mallett in week 2 and Sam Black in week 4, Macey became Walsh's last remaining act in the competition. On the tenth live show Macey performed "Fix You" by Coldplay, and was eliminated.

In his first audition, he performed "Lay Me Down" by Sam Smith, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Leon Mallett

Leon Mallett, (born 2 May 1995) aged 22, is a singer from Norwich. He originally auditioned with his brother Alex as a duo called ITG (In the Genetics), but they were split apart during bootcamp. Previously, he took part in series eleven as a member of the boyband Fifth Street, but was eliminated in bootcamp. Mallett was originally eliminated during judges' houses, but was brought back in the competition for the live shows as one of the public's wildcards.[4] In the third live show, Mallett performed "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams, and received the fewest public votes, becoming the third act to be eliminated.

In his first audition, he performed "Don't" by Ed Sheeran, and received three yes votes from the judges.

Spencer Sutherland

Spencer Sutherland, (born August 31, 1992) aged 25, is a singer-songwriter and model from Pickerington, Ohio, United States.[5]

In his first audition, he performed "Let’s Get It On" by Marvin Gaye, and received four yes votes from the judges. In the first live show, Sutherland performed "Who You Are" by Jessie J, and received the fewest public votes, becoming the first act to be eliminated.

Girls

Sharon Osbourne mentored the girls category of female soloists aged 14 to 27. The six candidates at judges' houses were: Alisah Bonaobra, Grace Davies, Deanna Mussington, Georgina Panton, Holly Tandy, and Rai-Elle Williams. Osbourne chose Davies, Tandy, and Williams to progress to the live shows. Bonaobra later advanced as one of the public's wildcards.

Alisah Bonaobra

Alisah Bonaobra, (born 22 April 1995) aged 22, is a singer from Manila, Philippines. She previously took part in the second season of The Voice of the Philippines, where she was the runner-up. Bonaobra was originally eliminated during judges' houses, but was brought back in the competition for the live shows as one of the public's wildcards.[6] On the sixth live show Bonaobra performed "Praying For Time" by George Michael, and received the fewest public votes, becoming the sixth act to be eliminated.

In her first audition, she performed "Listen" by Beyoncé, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Grace Davies

Grace Davies (born 1 February 1997), aged 20, is a warehouse assistant from Blackburn.[7] Following the eliminations of Alisah Bonaobra in week 3 and Holly Tandy and Rai-Elle Williams in week 4, Davies became Osbourne's last remaining act in the competition. She made it to the Final, where she placed as runner-up.

In her first audition, she performed an original song called "Roots", and received a resounding four yes votes from the judges.[8]

Holly Tandy

Holly Tandy, (born 21 July 2001), aged 16, is a singer from Barnsley.[9] On the eighth live show Tandy performed "Love Me Harder" by Ariana Grande and The Weeknd, and was eliminated.

In her first audition, she performed "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Rai-Elle Williams

Rai-Elle Williams, (born 22 May 2001) aged 16, is a student from Croydon. In 2016, Williams took part in the first series of CBBC talent show Got What It Takes?, presented by series eleven finalist, Lauren Platt.[10] On the eighth live show, Williams performed "Mr. Big Stuff" by Jean Wright and was eliminated. Before starting the X Factor, Williams was attending a church down at Lewisham called the Tabernacle. She had joined the youth choir there and was performing from time to time at her church.

In her first audition, she performed "Sail" by Awolnation, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Over 28s

Nicole Scherzinger mentored the over-28s category of male and female soloists aged 28 or over. The six candidates at judges' houses were: Talia Dean, Tracyleanne Jefford, Slavko Kalezić, Berget Lewis, Matt Linnen and Kevin Davy White. Scherzinger chose Jefford, Linnen and White to progress to the live shows. Dean later advanced as one of the public's wildcards.

Talia Dean

Talia Dean, (born 17 January 1985) aged 33, is an airport VIP escort at Heathrow Airport from Hounslow, London. Dean was originally eliminated during judges' houses, but was brought back in the competition for the live shows as one of the public's wildcards.[11] In the second live show, Dean performed "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction, but received the fewest public votes, becoming the second act to be eliminated.

In her first audition, she performed "I Put a Spell on You" by Nina Simone, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Tracyleanne Jefford

Tracyleanne Jefford, (born 4 June 1983) aged 34, is a stay-at-home mother from Sunbury-on-Thames. She previously auditioned for the show in series three, but was eliminated in bootcamp.[12] the second live show, Jefford performed "Ain’t Your Mama" by Jennifer Lopez, but received the fewest public votes, becoming the fourth act to be eliminated.

In her first audition, she performed "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" by The Shirelles, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Matt Linnen

Matt Linnen, (born 24 November 1988) aged 29, is a plasterer from Southend-on-Sea.[13] Linnen performed "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones, but received the fewest public votes, becoming the tenth act to be eliminated.

In his first audition, he performed "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Kevin Davy White

Kevin Davy White, (born 27 October 1987) aged 30, is a musician from Paris, France.[14] He had previously auditioned for season five of The Voice: la plus belle voix, but did not pass the blind auditions. Following the eliminations of Talia Dean in week 1, Tracyleanne Jefford in week 2 and Matt Linnen in week 5, Davy White became Scherzinger's last remaining act in the competition. Davy White made it to the Final where he placed 3rd.

In his first audition, he performed "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" by James Brown, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Groups

Simon Cowell mentored the groups category of duos or vocal harmony groups, all aged 14 and over. The six candidates at judges' houses were: The Cutkelvins, Jack & Joel, Lemonade, Sean & Conor Price, Rak-Su, and the new unnamed girl band. Cowell chose The Cutkelvins, Sean and Conor Price, and Rak-Su to progress to the live shows. Jack and Joel later advanced as one of the public's wildcards.

The Cutkelvins

The Cutkelvins are a three-piece group consisting of siblings Shereen (born 2 December 1996, aged 20), Kyle (born 13 May 1994, aged 23), and Jay Cutkelvin (born 26 November 1992, aged 25), from Lanark. Shereen was previously a member of the girl group Neon Jungle, who achieved four top twenty singles in the United Kingdom.[15] On the tenth live show Cutkelvins performed "Show Me Love" by Robin S, and were eliminated.

In their first audition, they performed "Runnin' (Lose It All)" by Naughty Boy featuring Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Jack and Joel

Jack and Joel are a duo made up of friends Jack Remmington (born 12 October 1994, aged 23), from Lincolnshire, and Joel Fisher (born 6 May 1995, aged 22), from London. They met while students at the University of Oxford, where they were both members of a cappella group Out of the Blue.[16] Jack and Joel were originally eliminated during judges' houses, but were brought back in the competition for the live shows as one of the public's wildcards.[17] In the fifth live show, they performed "The Edge of Heaven" by Wham!, but received the fewest public votes, becoming the fifth act to be eliminated.

In their first audition, they performed an Ed Sheeran mashup, and received four yes votes from the judges.

Rak-Su

Rak-Su are a four-piece group consisting of childhood friends Ashley, Jamaal, Myles, and Mustafa, from Watford.[18] Following the eliminations of Jack and Joel in week 3, Sean & Conor Price in Week 4 and The Cutkelvins in Week 5, Rak-Su became Cowell's last remaining act in the competition. They made it all the way to the final, where they won the competition. Rak-Su are the second group to win the show after Little Mix, and the first male group to win the show. On December 3, 2017, the group released the studio version of their performance of "Dimelo" with Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy as their winner's single.

In their first audition, they performed an original song called "I'm Feeling You", and received four yes votes from the judges.

Sean and Conor Price

Sean & Conor Price are a sibling duo consisting of brothers Sean (born 19 October 1999, aged 18) and Conor Price (born 13 March 2002, aged 16), from Blessington, Ireland.[19] In the seventh live show, they performed "Issues" by Julia Michaels, but received one of the fewest public votes, being eliminated in a double elimination alongside Sam Black.

In their first audition, they performed "All Along the Watchtower" by Bob Dylan, and received four yes votes from the judges.
