Tikka Shankaraiah (Telugu: తిక్క శంకరయ్య, English: Crack Shankaraiah) is a 1968 Telugu comedy film, produced by D. V. S. Raju under the D.V.S. Productions banner[3] and directed by D. Yoganand.[4] It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna Kumari and Jayalalithaa in the lead roles,[5] with music composed by T. V. Raju.[6]

Plot

Raghavayya (Chittoor V. Nagaiah), a middle-class villager, lives with his wife Kantamma (Suryakantam), first wife's daughter Susheela (Krishna Kumari) and Kantamma's daughter Rani (Jayalalithaa). Kantamma is a shrewd and arrogant woman who always tortures Susheela. Mohan (N. T. Rama Rao) a young and energetic guy comes from the city to fix up an alliance with Rani, but likes Susheela because of her simple nature. Meanwhile, Lingaraju (Nagabhushanam), a moneylender asks Raghavayya to repay his debt, otherwise he should perform his marriage with Susheela. Mohan promises Susheela that he will repay Lingaraju’s debt and marry her. Mohan reaches home and asks his father (Dr. Sivaramakrishnaiah) money, but he refuses. Mohan decides to leave the house, but his mother (Hemalatha) gives her jewelry and asks him to repay the amount. Before Mohan reaches the village, Kantamma forcibly makes the marriage arrangements of Susheela with Lingaraju. Susheela escapes from the venue before marriage. Kantamma manages by performing the marriage with the dumb maid. Mohan sees this from a distance and believes that Susheela is married and leaves that place. Both Susheela and Mohan travel in the same train and reach the city. Susheela tries to convince Mohan that she is not married, but Mohan is not ready to listen to her. Later he meets with an accident. Susheela joins him in hospital and after regaining consciousness, Mohan rejects Susheela because she is a married woman. Mohan forgets his suitcase with money. Susheela takes the suitcase to Mohan’s father where he recognizes her honesty, accepts her as the daughter-in-law and are waiting for Mohan's arrival.

Meanwhile, Shankaram (again N. T. Rama Rao) a madman, son of Sodakottu Sambayya (Rajanala) who is in mental hospital resembles Mohan. Lingaraju comes to know the truth and he quarrels with Kantamma. She promises him that she will definitely get back Susheela and hands over to him. Kantamma sends her brother Devayya (Padmanabham) in search of Susheela. On the way, he meets Mohan and explains to him the entire situation. Mohan feels sorry for his behavior and both of them search for Susheela. At the same time, Shankaram escapes from the mental hospital. The hospital staff mistake Mohan for Shankaram and take him into custody. Devayya thinks Shankaram is Mohan and takes him to the village. After some comic incidents, Shankaram and Rani fall in love. After that, Sambaiah recognizes that Mohan is not his son Shakaram and he is released from the hospital. Before Mohan reaches home, Kantamma writes a letter that Mohan is staying with them and is ready to marry Rani. Reading that letter, Susheela leaves the house. After coming back, Mohan gets shocked reading the same letter and he too follows Susheela. After reaching the village, Susheela thinks Shankaram is Mohan and tries to convince him. Seeing Susheela with Shankaram, Lingaraju back-stabs him and forcibly takes Susheela with him. After coming into consciousness, Shankaram gets back his memory and reveals that he is not Mohan. The moment when he is leaving, Rani stops him and says that she truly loves him. Meanwhile, Mohan protects Susheela and brings her back. Finally, Lingaraju settles with the dumb wife and the movie ends on the happy note with the marriages of Mohan with Susheela and Shankaram with Rani.
