    Released: October 20, 2015 (2015-10-20)

The Story Begins is the debut extended play by South Korean girl group Twice. The album was released digitally and physically on October 20, 2015[1] by JYP Entertainment and distributed by KT Music. The album contains six tracks including the lead single, "Like Ooh-Ahh", which was composed by Black Eyed Pilseung and is a blend of several different genres.

Background and release

On October 7, 2015, JYP Entertainment launched the band's official website and announced via SNS that the group would debut with the mini-album The Story Begins and title-track "Like Ooh-Ahh".[2][3][4][5][6]

Teasers featuring each of the members for their music video were released from October 12 to 14, 2015.[7]

Promotion

Twice held a live showcase on October 20, where they performed "Like Ooh-Ahh" along with dance tracks "Going Crazy" and "Do It Again."[8][9]

The group started promoting their title track "Like Ooh-Ahh" with the b-side "Do It Again" on music shows on October 22. They first performed the songs on Mnet's M! Countdown, followed by performances on KBS' Music Bank, MBC's Show! Music Core and SBS's Inkigayo.[10]

Commercial performance

The Story Begins debuted at number four on the Gaon Album Chart for the week ending October 24, 2015 and peaked at number three two weeks later.[11][12] As of April 2016, the album had sold 70,647 copies in South Korea and 12,141+ copies in Japan.[13][14]

Future impacts and effects

On October 19, 2016, Twice revealed their official light stick dubbed "Candy Bong" (bong meaning stick in Korean), inspired by the song "Candy Boy".[15]
