Thaali (English: Wedding Chain) is a 1997 Telugu drama film, produced by Maganti Venkateswara Rao on MRC Movie Creations banner[2] and directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana.[3] It stars Srikanth, Swetha, Sneha, Swathi in the lead roles and has music composed by Vidyasagar.[4] The film recorded as Hit at the box office.[5]
Plot
Bose Babu (Srikanth) a young & energetic guy, has a movie theater & many businesses in a village, his opponent is Kota (Kota Srinivasa Rao) to whom Bose Babu is a tough nut. Kota comes to know his daughter Swathi (Swathi) is in love with Bose Babu. Hence, he moves to Bose Babu’s mother (Srividya) taking the marriage proposal but she tells him that her son's marriage is already fixed with her husband’s friend Ramaraju’s (Murali Mohan) daughter Sneha (Sneha) in their childhood itself. Both the families’ make marriage arrangements. Bose Babu wants to see the bride before marriage, so, he secretly visits Ramaraju’s house where he mistakes servant Ganga (Swetha) as his daughter and likes her. Ganga is an orphan brought by Ramaraju along with his daughter. Here Sneha rejects this match because she is already in love with a guy Sivaji (Srihari) Kota’s son. But Ramaraju does not agree and forcibly makes her marriage with Bose Babu. During the time of marriage, the bride & bridegroom does not see each other. After the marriage, Sneha removes the Thaalli wedding chain and leaves the house. Seeing it Ramaraju collapses with the heart attack. To protect his honor, Ramu (Rajendra Prasad) the most faithful & loyal servant to Ramaraju requests Ganga to wear that wedding chain and act like Sneha for a few days. Until then he will get back Sneha and Ganga do it out of adherence. When Ramaraju comes into conscious Ramu bluffs with him that Sneha is safe and went to her in-law’s house along with Ganga. Parallelly, Sneha comes to know Sivaji is a cheater. Soon she decides to catch him to Police and he tries to kill her by hitting with the vehicle when she is seriously injured.
On the other side, Ganga reaches Bose Babu’s house where he tries to come nearer to Ganga but she keeps him away. Suddenly, one-day Ramaraju visits Bose Bose’s house where he is surprised to see Ganga. Knowing this Ramu also immediately rushes there and reveals the entire truth. At that moment, Ramaraju makes a decision that Ganga is only his daughter and again makes her marriage with Bose Babu. After that, Ramaraju leaves for aboard, Ganga & Bose Babu starts living happily and Ganga becomes pregnant. Here a twist in the story, for everyone’s surprise Bose Babu brings Sneha claiming her as his wife. When his mother questions, he replies that once he found her in a serious condition due to an accident and admitted in the hospital giving consent as his wife. Unfortunately, she lost her memory in the accident that’s why he brought her home. Now Bose Babu struck between the both. After a few comic incidents when the situation becomes serious Ganga leaves the house giving back the wedding chain and Ramu also accompanies her. Bose Babu goes in search of Ganga when comes to know the truth. Meanwhile, Kota & Sivaji see Ganga with Ramu and spread rumors about their relation. Eventually, seeing Sivaji Sneha gets back her memory, Ganga gives birth to a baby boy and Bose Babu finds her. But she creates herself as bad before Bose Babu to unite him with Sneha. Therefore, Bose Babu decides to remarry Sneha but Ramaraju arrives in the last minute and reveals the truth. By the time, Ganga tries to commit suicide, Bose Babu protects and brings her back. At last, everyone declares that Ganga is only Bose Babu’s wife. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note by Bose Babu again putting the wedding chain around Ganga's neck.
