Location

Tanjong Rhu MRT station (TE23) is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Thomson-East Coast Line in Kallang, Singapore. The station will be situated at the traffic junction of Tanjong Rhu Road and Tanjong Rhu Place.

The station will serve residents of Water Place, Pebble Bay, Casuarina Cove, Camelot, Tanjong Ria, Parkshore and Sanctuary Green condominiums.[1] As the Singapore Indoor Stadium and the new National Stadium are located directly opposite the Geylang River, this station will also serve the Singapore Sports Hub, complementing the existing Stadium MRT station.

A new "Gardens Bay East" station (code TE22A) has appeared in the latest edition of the MRT/LRT System Map published on the Land Transport Authority (LTA) website. This station is a shell station that is being built alongside stage 4 of the Thomson-East Coast Line. It has not been publicly announced, except for the appearance on the new system map which features the confirmed route of the Jurong Region Line. It is located between Gardens by the Bay MRT station and Tanjong Rhu station. However, it has since been removed from the map.[2]

History

This station was first announced on 15 August 2014, as a merger of the Eastern Region Line with the Thomson Line to form the Thomson-East Coast Line, extending the project to 5 stages, with 9 more stations. It is expected to be ready by 2023.[3]
