Punggol Coast MRT station (NE18) is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North East Line in Punggol, Singapore. Once completed, it will replace Punggol as the line's northern terminus.

The station will serve a mixed-use area in Punggol North which is slated to be an "enterprise district", housing digital and cyber-security industries, as well as the new Singapore Institute of Technology campus.

History

On 17 January 2013, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that the North East Line will be extended northwards by one station to serve Punggol North including the new Punggol Downtown. The station will be built in tandem with the developments there, by around 2030, so that future residents in Punggol North will have train access to the city centre as well as other parts of Singapore.[1]

On 7 June 2017, it was announced by Second Minister for Transport Ng Chee Meng that the North-East Line extension will open in 2023, 7 years ahead of the expected opening date. The single station extension will span 1.6 km and will serve the future Punggol North area. It was renamed to Punggol Coast from Punggol North.[2][3]

Tenders for the construction of NELe tunnels, station and construction works were called in June 2017, and construction is expected to commence in the first half of 2018.
