Sylhet International University (SIU) is a private university located at Shamimabad, Bagbari Sylhet, Bangladesh. It was established under The Private University Act of 1992.[1] SIU is affiliated with University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The first vice-chancellor was Sadruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, former president of Bangladesh Physical Society (1995-1996) and first Vice-chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. The current Vice-chancellor is Md. Monir Uddin. He was the secretary and Controller of Exams for many years at Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sylhet.
