Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke (International Title: Young Dreams) is an Indian television series, which premiered on 21 May 2012 and was broadcast on Zee TV[3][4]. The show was all about celebrating adolescence depicting the lives of two teenage girls, Gunjan and Rachna. The teenage years mark the real beginning of a person's blossoming youth and the events that occur in one's life in this period leave permanent imprints affecting his/her personality. The Show Was Dubbed In English and Aired on Zee World on DSTv channel: 166. The show ended on 23 January 2015.

Synopsis

The show follows the lives of two teenage girls, Gunjan (Roopal Tyagi) and Rachna (Mahima Makwana). It shows stages in their lives including love, marriage and other problems faced by young women.

The series starts with Gunjan a fun loving girl from Mumbai who lives her life to the fullest, enjoy hanging out with her friend's. She resides with her mother, Sneha. Sneha's husband, Aakash resides in Australia as he had set up his business in the country.

Sneha who suffers from cancer is concerned about Gunjan and has not informed her about her ailment. Sneha has video recorded every moment that she had spent with Gunjan. Sneha video records a message for Gunjan wherein she expresses her concern for her. She decides to gift the video recordings to Gunjan. On her birthday, after the party, she offered that gift to Gujan and asked her to open it on her birthday.

On the other hand, Rachana who is from a small town Benaras is shy and introvert. She also feared that if she failed in the exam, her father Dayal would get her married.

Rachna and her cousin brother Dhollu return home from Ganga Ghat. Rachna who is scared of dogs fears that a dog named Damodar may follow her and Dhollu. Dhollu tries to pacify Rachna. On her way home, Rachna meets her friend Chaya. Chaya shows Rachna a film magazine and discusses various outfits and hairstyles donned by the celebrities. Chaya tells Rachna that she should get dressed up like a celebrity for their farewell party.

Meanwhile, Chaya's father arrives. She fears that her father may get angry if he sees the magazine with her. Chaya, therefore, requests Rachna to take the magazine home. Rachna fears that her father too may get angry at her if he sees the magazine and so refuses to keep it with her. Chaya forcefully hands over the magazine to Rachna and leaves. Rachna is left tensed.

Following the Promise to Sneha, Shail brought Gunjan to Benaras after her death. Although Shail was concerned about her. Dayal and other family members were awestruck by her modern town dressing sense. While Rachana is tensed, she even tried to talk with her but she shouted and tells her to leave her alone.

Everyone in the house is celebrating Mayank's return to the town after completing his studies. Meanwhile, in the night Mayank mistakenly entry Gunjan room. They both fight with each other.

Gunjan teaches a lesson to Mithu who has taken an inappropriate picture of Rachna. After exposing Mithu, both the girls celebrate their victory by dancing in rain. When they reach home, everyone questioned them, Mayank to ask Gunjan about the boy. Gunjan tells everyone the whole story.

Gunjan and Mayank help Rachna in Hockey Session as she took admission in college through sports quota. Meanwhile, Dayal(Rachna's father) had fixed her marriage. However, Shail supports her daughter.

At the Hockey match, everyone is supporting Rachna except Mr. Dayal. Rachna strikes two goals, the crowd starts cheering for her, Mr. Dayal while going out of the stadium hears the noise. Suddenly, the noise stop as Rachna fells down, her Hockey coach tried to get her up. Meanwhile, Mr. Dayal reaches the stadium sees her daughter and says, "Come on Rachna", Gunjan, Mayank, Shail, and everyone is shocked. Rachna gets up strike one goal and wins the match. Mr. Dayal and everyone else feel proud of her. On reaching home Rachna mother-in-law(Vihaan and Rajeev mother) was waiting for her.

Vihaan blackmails Gunjan. On the engagement day leaving of Rachna he put a ring on Gunjan hand and got engaged to her. Seeing this, Dayal family got angry and breaks all relation with Vihaan's family. On mahashivratri Gunjan expose Vihaan in front of all family members.

Vihaan learned a good lesson. Slowly and steadily he fell in love with Rachna. Rachna rejected his love once but as days went on she to fall for him. However, things didn't go well with them and their family members and they broke up.

On the other hand, Seema(Mayank's mother) and Sangeeta create misunderstanding between Gunjan and Mayank. However, they get exposed in front of Shail and other family members. Shail announces Gunjan and Mayank marriage. Meanwhile, shockingly Charu get married to Mayank. Charu creates a problem between Gunjan, Rachna and other family members. However, Mayank learns her true face and try to expose her but she sent him behind the bars in a fake dowry case.

Rachna, Kabir, and Gunjan plan to expose Charu. Charu gets exposed and is arrested by police. After a few days, Gunjan and Mayank get married. On the other hand, Rachna who is working in Kabir's company as a fashion designer after days of dating each other announces her marriage proposal in front of the family. However, Dayal family didn't approve of them because of the past fallout with Kabir's family. However, as days go on they get convinced.

On the marriage day, Kabir leaves Rachna with a message to take care of Bitu(Kabir's brother) who is mentally ill. On this everyone got angry, Dayal family asks questions to Kabir grandmother. In order to prove her love, Rachna decides to take care of Bitu and leaves the house. Misunderstanding took place between Gunjan and Mayank. Everybody gets extremely shocked when Shail tells that Mayank and Gunjan need to separate from each other. She goes on to say that Mayank and Gunjan should stay separate for at least six months and should meet after that. Shail says that the two of them should make a decision after these six months if the two of them want to stay together or not. Gunjan and Mayank agree to Shail's decision and Gunjan's father decide to take her along with him. Gunjan and Mayank part ways and at the same time think about the times they had spent together. Shail later tells Seema that whatever she had done, she had done for the good of Mayank and Gunjan. While leaving teary eyes Gunjan touches Seema feet and Seema to gives her blessing with teary eyes.

6 months later

After six months of staying away from each other, it's finally time for Mayank and Gunjan to reunite as planned by Shail. The two of them choose the holy day of Eid to meet each other and decide to meet at the 'Dargah' the place of worship for the 'Muslims'. Both Mayank and Gunjan seem extremely excited and in his excitement, Mayank even mistakes a lady to be Gunjan but later apologizes to her. He finally finds Gunjan in the Dargah but gets upset when Gunjan does not see him and continues to walk away. He follows her but didn't meet her. Later, both Mayank and Gunjan go to their respective homes and tell their families that they have failed to unite with their partners.

On the other hand, Bitu is admitted to the mental hospital, Rachna is taking care of him.

At market Mayank again meet Gunjan but she didn't recognize him and even slapped him for stalking her. Mayank tells the incident to the house members, Dhollu too supports him, everyone is shocked. Mayank reaches Gujan house to find out why her wife is behaving strangely with him. Meanwhile, Akash(Gunjan's father) informs him that she has lost her memory in an accident.

Mayank joins Gunjan college to get her back. On the other hand, Rachna gets a job of interior designer at omkar residence. Omkar gets shocked to see Rachna and talks rudely with him because his wife resembles her. Rachna didn't know the truth. Rachna feels strange when omkar son, lucky get attached to her and refer to her as his mother.

Mayank is trying his best to get back Gunjan. While Rachna meets Gunjan in the market. Rachna gets emotional meeting her but Gunjan didn't recognize her. Rachna gets shocked when Mayank tells her about Gunjan memory loss.

Rachna returns back home, everyone gets emotional seeing her. She apologizes to everyone for an earlier incident.

Om is now aware that his brother Lalit was the one who had killed his wife, Divya and he points a gun towards Urvashi (Lalit's wife) to stop Lalit from harming Rachna. Meanwhile, Gunjan and Mayank continue to search for the secret passage that will lead to Rachna. Gunjan finally comes across a painting and realizes that the secret passage lies behind this painting. Meanwhile, Om and Lalit get into a fist fight and just then Om finds Divya's clothes and jewelry in a cupboard that Lalit had hidden all this while. Moments later, the police arrive and arrests Lalit and Urvashi. Om goes on to thank Gunjan and others for their support and with a heavy heart, he reveals to Lucky that Rachna is not his real mother. Rachna promises to meet Lucky every day and asks him not to be disappointed. Mayank and Gunjan later leave behind their past differences and are ready for a new beginning.

Rachna feels miserable seeing the love of her life that had gone far away from her, once again making an entry into her life but refusing to make any move. However, she decides to forgive Kabir for the past but is heartbroken to see Kabir not bothering to even talk to her. Meanwhile, Rachna's entire family decides to send Rachna far away as this would keep her busy and preoccupied. They tell Rachna about this, and Rachna sadly agrees to the family's decision. Later, while Rachna is getting ready to leave the house, Kabir makes plans to meet Rachna and buys a beautiful bouquet of roses for his lady love. 6 months later

Rachna is married to Kabir. On the day of Gunjan's 'Godbharai', Mayank announces that Rachna is pregnant and everyone is elated with the news. The show ends on a happy note where all family members pose for a group photo.

Special episode and events

RACHNA KI SAGAI SPECIAL was a special Mahaepisode broadcast on Saturday 19th January,2013, at 9:00 p.m. IST. The episode showcases Rachna(Mahima Makwana) and Vihaan (Nikhil Chaddha) engagement ceremony. The episode was graced by various Television actors performing on different songs.[5][6][7]

Ladakpan Ke Suhane Rang was a three hour Holi special event hosted by Zee TV celebrated on set of Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke wherein various actors from Zee family gave their performance. The episode showcases the Holi of three different states, including shail (played by Vaishnavi Mcdonald) of Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke celebrating holi in Uttar Pradesh style, Neetu (played by Tuhina Verma) of Ek Mutthi Aasman and Saavri Bua (played by Asheta Dhawan) of Aur Pyaar Hogya showcasing Holi of Punjab and Rajasthan [8][9].The event was also graced some prominent couples of Zee family including Rachna(Mahima Makwana and KT (Piyush Sahdev), Gujan(Roopal Tyagi) and Mayank(Ankit Gera) Zoya(Surbhi Jyoti) and Asad(Raqesh Vashisth), Avni (Kaanchi Singh), Raj (Mishkat Varma ) among others.

Dawat-E-Eid was an Eid special event on the sets of Qubool Hai Wherein Mahima Makwana(Rachna) and Ankit Gera(Mayank) gave their individual performance among others[10]. Crossover 5 day Mahaepisode have occurred with Ek Mutthi Aasmaan on May 5th 2014[11].

Development and Premier

The series produced by Shakuntalam Telefilms was a story depicting life's of youth and problems they faces.The show premiered on 21st May 2012 at 7:30 p.m.(IST) and airs from Monday to Friday.At the launch event, while talking about the show, Sukesh Motwani, Fiction Head of Zee TV, said, “ Sapne Suhane Ladakpan ke is all about celebrating adolescence. The show is full of hope, aspirations, wish, longing, desire and yearning. The idea was to enrich the lives of the viewers through an endearing content which will remind them of their carefree wonder years.” Further, producer Neelima Bajpai, said, “ We’ve made the show look youthful and appealing.”[51].

Casting

Roopal Tyagi and Mahima Makwana were casted to play lead role of Gunjan and Rachna respectively[52].While Vaishnavi Mahant and Manasi Salvi were casted to play the prominent roles.Ankit Gera was paired opposite Roopal Tyagi.Apparently Nikhil Chaddha was paired opposite Mahima Makwana, after his exit, In December 2013, Piyush Sahdev had been roped in to play Mahima Makwana's Love interest [53].After six months leap,Ali Hassan makes an entry in the show to play important character of Omkar Opposite Divya (resemblance Of rachna face) [21]. However, soon his track ended, and after three months re-enter the show recovering from his knee injury [31]. Aanchal Khurana was roped in to play main villan role of Charu.[54].The other casts included were Alka Mogha, Harsh Rajput, Shakti Singh among others.

Reception

The show was among the top rated Indian shows and had often made it's placed in top 10 most watched Hindi GEC's show. In week 6,2013 with the rating of 4.3 TVR the show climbed to NO.1 spot in the Hindi GEC space[3], with reference to the show success hindustantimes published an article quoting, Television's prime time slot gets redefined[55]. The report published on May 4, 2013, stated that with 2.9 Trp the show achieved No. 3 position among top 10 fictional shows[56].An article published by toi in 2013 quoting, Love stories pulling up TRPs on small screen, mentioned that the show received 4.0 Trp in week 4[4]. Yet, another report published on June 29,2013, stated that the show remained at No. 6 among top 10 fiction shows Top 10 fiction shows with the rating of 2.6[57]. In week 16,2013, with the Trp of 2.5 show remained at No. 6 [58]. In week 17,2014 it averaged to 5.3 TVR[59].However, it week 18,2014 it averaged to 4.7 TVR[60]. Nevertheless,the show was quite popular among the Indian audience, specially youth's.
