Samariterstraße (Berlin U-Bahn)
Samariterstraße is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the U 5.
History
Built in 1930 by A. Grenander, it was tiled green and closed after the bomb explosions on 9 and 10 April 1945. It was later reopened on 16 June 1945. During the GDR the station was covered with pictures of SED propaganda that was removed in 1990, together with Neo-Nazism. After 1993 there were anti-violence ads hanging on the walls, put up after a 23-old was killed in this station by right wingers.[1] These were all removed during the modernisation programme in 2004. As of 2011, construction of an elevator has commenced in order to make the station barrier-free accessible.
