Ruth Briggs King[1] (born March 8, 1956 in Milford, Delaware) is an American politician and a Republican member of the Delaware House of Representatives since January 12, 2010 representing District 37.[2]

Education

Briggs King earned her AA in medical technology from Delaware Technical Community College, her BA and MA in human resources from Wilmington College (now Wilmington University).

Elections

  • 2012 Briggs King was unopposed for the September 11, 2012 Republican Primary and won the November 6, 2012 General election with 5,026 votes (54.8%) against Democratic nominee Elizabeth McGinn.[3]
  • 2000 Briggs King initially ran for District 41 in the Republican Primary, but lost;[4] incumbent Democratic Representative Charles P. West won the General election, holding the seat, and served until 2003.
  • 2009 When Republican Representative Joseph W. Booth won the Senate District 19 Special election and left the House District 37 seat open, Briggs King won the September 12, 2009 Special election with 2,429 votes (53.6%) against Democratic candidate Robert Robertson.[5]
  • 2010 Briggs King was unopposed for the September 17, 2010 Republican Primary and won the November 2, 2010 General election with 5,149 votes (61.8%) against Democratic nominee Frank Shade.[6]
