Pluckley railway station is on the South Eastern Main Line in England, serving the village of Pluckley, Kent, which is approximately 1.2 miles (2 km) to the south. It is 50 miles 35 chains (81.2 km) down the line from London Charing Cross and is situated between Headcorn and Ashford International. The station and all trains that call are operated by Southeastern.
The ticket office is manned only on weekdays for five hours; at other times a ticket vending machine, located outside the station building on the 'down' (country-bound) side, suffices.
The station opened with this section of the line on 1 December 1842. Despite platform lengthening, the addition of a footbridge and the closure of the goods yard, it remains little changed and is the only survivor from the original SER stations. Its most distinctive feature is the staggered platforms, whereby the 'up' (London-bound) platform is almost wholly west of the eastbound platform (on which the station buildings are situated). The footbridge links the platforms.
Services
As of May 2010 the typical off peak services from this station are:
- 2tph (trains per hour) to London Charing Cross
- 1tph to Dover Priory and Canterbury West (dividing at Ashford International)
- 1tph to Ramsgate via Dover and Canterbury, dividing at Ashford[1]
There are also peak hour services to and from London Cannon Street.
