Pathri is a town and a municipal council in Parbhani district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.[3][4][5][6] Sri Sai Janmasthan Temple, Pathri attracts thousands of tourists each year.[7]

Geography

Pathri is located at 19°15′N 76°27′E / 19.25°N 76.45°E / 19.25; 76.45.[8] It has an average elevation of 423 metres (1387 feet).

Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[1] Pathri has population of 36,853 of which 19,025 are males while 17,828 are females. Pathri has Female Sex Ratio is of 937 higher than Maharashtra state average of 929. 15.1% of the population is under 6 years of age.[1]

Literacy rate of Pathri city is 78.20% lower than state average of 82.34%. In Pathri, Male literacy is around 84.18% while female literacy rate is 71.89%.[1]

Schedule Caste (SC) constitutes 12.04% while Schedule Tribe (ST) were 0.83% of total population in Pathri.[1]

Tourism

Sri Sai Janmasthan Temple (Sai Baba Birth Temple) is a temple in heart of the town, where spiritual master Sai Baba of Shirdi was born.[7][9][10] Datta temple in Gunj-Khurd and Renuka Devi temple at Pedgaon holds religious importance as well. पाथरी चे मुळ नाव पार्थपुर असे होते. पाथरी शहरात चौधरी गल्ली मध्ये गोसावी समाजाचा मठ आहे.या मठाला तत्कालीन निजाम ने शेकडो एकर जमीन जहांगीरी म्हणून दिली होती, असे म्हणतात .

Pathri is a major town on National Highway 222 which connects Kalyan to Nirmal. Pathri is located 43 km (27 mi) towards west from district headquarters Parbhani. The distance between Pathri and Aurangabad is 151 km (94 mi).

Nearest railway station from Pathri is Manwath road railway station {MVO} which is 17 km (11 mi) away.

Administration

Pathri comes under Parbhani (Lok Sabha constituency) for Indian general elections and current member of Parliament representing this constituency is Sanjay Haribhau Jadhav of Shiv Sena.[11]

Pathri is part of Pathri (Vidhan Sabha constituency) for assembly elections of Maharashtra. Current representative from this constituency in Maharashtra state assembly is मोहन फड who was independent candidate.[12]
