Murasaki is a crater on Mercury located at 12 S, 31 W. It is 125 km in diameter and named after Murasaki Shikibu. The name was approved by IAU's Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature in 1976.[1] East of its rim almost touching is the slightly larger Hiroshige. The bright crater Kuiper overlays the rim of Murasaki, its ray system from Kuiper protrudes into the crater. South from the crater is Goldstone Vallis. Murasaki has a central peak in the middle.
