General elections were held on Montenegro on 9 December 1990,[1] with a second round of the presidential election held later in the month. Momir Bulatović of the League of Communists of Montenegro won the presidential election, whilst his party emerged as the largest in Parliament, winning 83 of the 125 seats.[1]

The presidential election took place on 9 December 1990 in SR Montenegro, on the same date as the parliamentary election.

As no candidate won a majority, the second round was held later in the month, with incumbent President of the Presidency Momir Bulatović facing Ljubiša Stanković of the Union of Reform Forces of Yugoslavia. After a convincing win in the second round, Bulatović became first elected President of Montenegro in the history.
