Market Street Bridge is a historic concrete arch bridge over the Susquehanna River between Kingston and Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It was designed by the architectural firm of Carrère and Hastings and built between 1926 and 1929.[2] It is a 1,274.3-foot-long (388.4 m) bridge with 12 spans. There are four main spans, each measuring 120-foot-long (37 m).[3] Six of the twelve arches are open spandrels.[4] Each side of the river has two pylons topped with limestone sculptures of eagles with partially spread wings, facing away from the bridge.[5][6][4] Flood walls were installed as part of the levee system.[7]
The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.[1][8]
