Mahatma Gandhi Central University is a public central university located in Motihari, Bihar.[1][2][3][4] This is the second central university in Bihar after Central University of South Bihar in Gaya.[5]

The university came into functional existence after its first Vice Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Arvind Agrawal [6] joined on 3 February, 2016. [7] 18 different departments have been established with undergraduate and postgraduate courses ranging from traditional disciplines like Hindi and English to advanced courses like Management Studies and Biotechnology. [8] The university has recently started B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering under School of CS & IT. [9]

The temporary campus of Central University is presently located within the Zila School Campus. The land for the permanent campus has been allotted by the Govt. of Bihar. [10]
