The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) is a teaching and research Central University of India, established by an act of Indian Parliament (Act no. 25 of 2009) in 2009.[1] .The University came to its existence after the then president of India and visitor of the Central University of Jharkhand, Her Excellency, Smt. Pratibha Patil, appointed Prof. Darlando T. Khathing, as its first Vice Chancellor on 1st March 2009.[2][3]

Academics

CUJ offers Masters Program in more than 20 disciplines, teacher training program (B.Ed.) and Ph.Ds programs. As of now these programs are offered at the temporary campus of the University located at Brambe[4], a 25 km drive from Ranchi (Capital of Jharkhand state in India) railway station.

Admission

Admission to the M.Sc./M.Tech/M.B.A./M.A./ B.Ed. and Ph.D. programs are based on the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). Admission to the Certificate & Diploma courses are based on Internal Entrance Test.[5]

Campus

The Brambe campus includes 70 independent class rooms and teaching labs, a 450-seat auditorium, research lab complex for sciences, engineering workshops, computer lab, and a linguistics lab. The university provides on-campus accommodation to students (total capacity 1000 boys and girls in separate hostels).[6]

CoE-GEET is a project under FAST (Frontier Areas of Science and Technology) scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, New Delhi. Established in year 2015 in the greenery of Central University of Jharkhand it has been brought up to develop materials, processes and systems which conserve and improve the existing social capital in the form of renewable energy resources and clean environment for the future generations. It involves collaborations between Department of Energy Engineering, Nanotechnology and Department of Chemistry under School of Engineering and Technology and School of Natural Sciences respectively.[8] This centre hosts various advanced research equipment like X-Ray Diffractometer, Atomic Force Microscope and many others for material synthesis and characterization.
