The Magic Trackpad 2 is a multi-touch and Force Touch trackpad produced by Apple Inc. Announced on October 13, 2015 it is the successor to the Magic Trackpad.

Description

The Magic Trackpad 2 is similar to its predecessor, with the key differences being a larger form factor,[2][3] rechargeable lithium-ion battery[4] and Force Touch. The trackpad also provides haptic feedback via Apple’s built-in Taptic Engine that is the same in MacBook trackpads.[5] The Lightning connector is used for charging and pairing.[6]

The trackpad is compatible with Apple Macintosh desktop and laptop computers running OS X El Capitan versions 10.11 and higher.

Google contributed patches to the Linux kernel for support.

Complementary Apple products

The Magic Trackpad 2 was released alongside of the Magic Keyboard and the Magic Mouse 2 in October 2015.
