This article lists the most-viewed channels on the video platform YouTube.[1][2][3] The most-viewed YouTube channel is T-Series, an Indian record label known for Bollywood music.[1][3][4][5][6] The second most-viewed YouTube channel is WWE.[4]

Top channels

As of September 2018, the top 10 includes two Indian channels, two American channels, and one channel each from Turkey, Brazil, Sweden, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines.[1]

Historical progression of most-viewed channels

The first-created and first-viewed YouTube channel was "Jawed" created on April 23, 2005 by YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim.[52][53] The first YouTube channel to exceed 10 billion views was PewDiePie in September 2015. Since then, 30 channels have exceeded 10 billion views as of January 2018.[3]

T-Series became the most-viewed YouTube channel of 2016,[54][55][56] and exceeded 14 billion views by January 2017.[57] It eventually surpassed PewDiePie to become the most-viewed YouTube channel of all time by February 16, 2017.[58] T-Series has also had the most monthly views since 2016,[59][60] and currently receives over 2 billion views per month as of August 2018.[61]

Music is the most-viewed program genre on YouTube, across the globe.[54] By 2016, the most-viewed YouTube channels were record labels (e.g. T-Series), YouTubers (e.g. Ryan ToysReview), music stars (e.g. Justin Bieber), and nursery videos (e.g. Little Baby Bum).[62][63]
