This is a list of hazing deaths in the Philippines. This is not an exhaustive list. Inclusion in this list requires that the incident was described by the media as a hazing-related death. Majority of deaths in this list include but is not limited to cases that involve fraternities.

The first reported hazing death in the Philippines was that of Gonzalo Mariano Albert, a University of the Philippines Diliman student and a Upsilon Sigma Phi neophyte. He died in 1954.

The death of Leonardo Villa in 1991 led to the passage of the Anti-Hazing Act of 1995.[1]

July 18, 1954 Gonzalo Mariano Albert Upsilon Sigma Phi University of the Philippines Diliman The first recorded hazing death in the Philippines.[2] Mariano was allegedly mauled by other fraternity members after failing to do an assigned task.[3]

Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay created the Castro Committee on October 1954 to investigate the death. The eponymous committee was headed by Executive Secretary Fred Ruiz Castro joined by UP faculty members Arturo Garcia and V. Lontok. It submitted a 116-page report to Magsaysay find hazing to be the cause of Albert's death and also recommended the expulsion of 4 officers of Upsilon, suspension of 25 members for one year, suspension of 19 neophytes for a semester, and a reprimand the reprimand of 3 other members. It also called for reforms on university regulation on fraternities and sororities and the prohibition of all forms of physical initiation. The report was not acted upon.[4]

1967 Ferdinand Tabtab Alpha Phi Omega University of the Philippines Diliman Ferdinand Tabtab[5] is the first recorded hazing death in the history of the fraternity.[6]
August 21, 1976 Mel Honasan Beta Sigma San Sebastian College – Recoletos Mel Honasan was a brother of Gregorio Honasan, who was later elected as Senator of the Philippines.[5][7][8]

February 10, 1991 Leonardo Villa Aquila Legis Ateneo de Manila University Villa's death led to the passage of the Anti-Hazing Act of 1995.[1][11]
September 8, 1991 Raul Camaligan Lex Talionis San Beda College The father of Camaligan filed charges of murder against the fraternity members involved. The case was won with the paddle used in the hazing rite used as evidence.[12]
October 13, 1991 Frederick Cahiyang Alpha Phi Omega University of the Visayas Reportedly the first publicized fatal hazing incident in Cebu schools.[13]

March 10, 2001 Edward Domingo Class hazing Philippine Military Academy Edward Domingo underwent a fatal hazing for his entry to the level PMA upperclassman. Two cadets were given the sentence homicide by the Baguio City Regional Trial Court for killing Domingo. The decision is also the first time that a civilian court convicted cadets of the Philippine Military Academy.[16][17]

January 14, 2006 Marlon Villanueva Alpha Phi Omega University of the Philippines Los Baños Villanueva died during initiation rites conducted at the Villa Novaliches Resort in Barangay Pansol of Calamba, Laguna.[3]

The case of Villanueva saw the first conviction under the Anti-Hazing Act of 1995. Two Alpha Phi Omega members were sentenced to reclusion perpetua in a 2015 decision.[19][20]
