Deandra Dottin was the first player to score a century in a WT20I match.[1]

In the sport of cricket, a century is a score of one hundred or more runs by a batsman in a single innings.[2] A women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) is an international cricket match between two teams, each having WT20I status, as determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC).[3] In a women's Twenty20 match, the two teams play a single innings, each of which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs.[4] The Twenty20 format was originally introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board for the men's county cricket competition with the first matches contested on 13 June 2003 between the English counties in the Twenty20 Cup.[5] The first women's Twenty20 International match took place on 5 August 2004 when New Zealand defeated England by nine runs at the County Cricket Ground in Hove.[6][7] This match was held six months before the first men's Twenty20 International, contested between Australia and New Zealand in February 2005.[8]

The first century in a WT20I match was scored by Deandra Dottin of the West Indies who scored 112 not out against South Africa in the opening match of the 2010 ICC Women's World Twenty20 at Warner Park in Basseterre.[9] In October 2017, Dottin became the first player to score two centuries in WT20Is, when she made 112 against Sri Lanka.[10][11] The most recent century, as of 7 July 2018, was scored by England’s Tammy Beaumont against South Africa during the 2018 England women's Tri-Nation Series.[12][13] England's Danielle Wyatt was the second women to score two centuries in the format when she 124 against India during 2017–18 India women's Tri-Nation Series in March 2018.[11][14] There has been one instance where two centuries have been scored in the same match. During the final WT20I of the 2017–18 Women's Ashes Australian Beth Mooney posted 117 not out in the first innings, while Wyatt reached triple figures in second to secure victory for the England.[15] In March 2014, Australia's Meg Lanning posted the highest score in a WT20I match with 126[16][17] while Dottin holds the record for the fastest century, reaching the milestone from 38 deliveries.[18]

As of September 2018, nine centuries have been scored by seven different players from 495 WT20I matches.[19] Centuries have been scored by players from six of the seventeen teams that hold women's Twenty20 International status and that have played a WT20I match.[lower-alpha 1][lower-alpha 2] England leads the list with three, followed by Australia and the West Indies with two centuries each.[22] Centuries have scored at seven different grounds, with Manuka Oval in Canberra, Australia and the County Ground in Taunton, England both leading the list with two each.[23]
