Kimberly Rhodes (born June 7, 1969)[1] is an American actress, who portrayed the role of "Cindy Harrison" on two different soap operas, Another World (1992–96)[2] and As the World Turns (2000–01), as well as Carey Martin in the Disney Channel sitcom The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005–08)[3] and The Suite Life on Deck (2008–11),[1][4] where she played the mother of twins Zack and Cody (Dylan and Cole Sprouse). She is also known for playing Sheriff Jody Mills on Supernatural (2010–).[1]

Personal life

Rhodes was born and raised in Portland, Oregon.[1][2] She graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School, and then attended Southern Oregon University,[1][2] graduating in 1991, and earned a Master of Fine Arts from Temple University.[5] Rhodes resides in Los Angeles, California with her husband, actor Travis Hodges,[2] and their daughter Tabitha, with whom Rhodes was pregnant at the end of Suite Life's run. On June 8, 2012, Rhodes wrote an entry on her blog explaining her recent absence from Twitter and other networks. This was due to the death of her father.

Career

In 1997, while performing in Another World, Rhodes was nominated, along with Mark Pinter, for a Soap Opera Digest award as "Favorite New Couple". For Rhodes's first Another World fan club luncheon, she rewrote the lyrics for "All For the Best" from Godspell. Prior to her Disney Channel début, she had previously acted with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival[2] for one season, portraying the roles of "Daphne Stillington" in Noël Coward's Present Laughter and "Helena" in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
In 2010, she was cast as Sheriff Jody Mills on the CW's show Supernatural. She first appeared in episode 15 of season 5 and her character has returned in every season since her introduction. Episode 10 of season 13, called Wayward Sisters, is a pilot for a spin-off, that would see Rhodes and fellow actresses Briana Buckmaster and Kathryn Newton as the main characters.[6][7][8][9] The series ultimately never got off the ground.
Rhodes performs, alongside other Supernatural's cast members, in Jason Manns' album Recovering with friends.[10][11]
