Plot

Ramu (N. T. Rama Rao) is a handsome, innocent, courageous guy who always moves with children and plays with them. Pullatla Tayaramma (G. Varalakshmi) is his foster mother who raised him from childhood. Phani Bhushan Rao (Satyanarayana) is a rich person of the village. His sister Lalitha (Vanisri), while coming from the city, falls in the lake accidentally and Ramu saves her. Lalitha develops an attachment towards Ramu and starts loving him. Ramu goes and asks Phani Bhushan Rao to make his sister's alliance with him, where he is badly insulted. Ramu challenges with Pahni Bhushan Rao that he will earn money and marries his sister. Without telling his mother, he leaves for the city. In the city, he comes in contact with a dumb girl Lakshmi (Srividya), he gets affectionate towards her and takes care of her as his own sister. Phani Bhushan Rao fixes Lalitha's match with Suresh (Prabhakar Reddy), who works as a villain in movies. Suresh and his mother Parvathi (Pandari Bai) also agree for the marriage. Lalitha escapes, reaches the city in search of Ramu and starts working in a drama troupe. After that, Ramu does various jobs. To his luck, he gets a movie chance, becomes a Super Star and earns a lot of money and fame. He comes back to the village, throws the money at Phani Bhushan Rao and asks for his sister's hand. Here, Phani Bhushan Rao bluffs that Lalitha is dead. Ramu teaches him a lesson and comes back to the city along with his mother. Ramu goes into depression and stops working. His co-actress Madhuri (Bharathi) who loves him, consoles him and makes him normal. Ramu's mother asks him to marry her and he replies that he will think about it. Fortunately, in a program, to his surprise, he sees Lalitha alive. Ramu gets Lalitha back and introduces her to everyone as his would-be, when Suresh's ego gets hurt because he liked her a lot. Phani Bhushan Rao also comes to know that Lalitha is alive. So, he plans with Suresh and they play a drama. Phani Bhushan Rao reaches Ramu's house, begs Tayaramma for shelter as if he lost everything and they give so. He traps Lakshmi and molests her. Lalitha asks him to marry Lakshmi, then he puts a condition that she has to marry Suresh. Lalitha agrees to it. Meanwhile, Parvathi recognizes Ramu as his elder son by the identification mark on his shoulder and she confirms it through Tayaramma. Meanwhile, Suresh tries to marry Lalitha forcibly with the help of Phani Bhushan Rao. Ramu reaches there on time. In the quarrel, Suresh fires on Ramu, Parvathi saves him and tells Suresh that Ramu is his elder brother. Suresh says sorry to Ramu, Phani Bhushan Rao also realizes his mistake and marries Lakshmi. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Ramu and Lalitha.
