John Freind (priest)

John Friend (later Robinson)[1] (15 February 1754 – 16 April 1832) was Archdeacon of Armagh from 1786 until his resignation in 1797.[2]

He was the grandson of Robert Friend, Headmaster of Westminster;[3] son of Dean William Friend;[4] and nephew of Archbishop Richard Robinson.[5] Freind was born in Witney educated at Westminster then Christ Church.[6] He was Prebendary of Tynan in Armagh Cathedral from 1778 to 1786;[7] and Precentor of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin from 1797 to 1823.[8] His son was an Admiral.[9]
