Iraqi Jews in Israel are immigrants and descendants of the immigrants of the Iraqi Jewish communities, who now reside within the state of Israel. They number around 450,000.[3]
History
In the 20th century, Iraqi Jews played an important role in the early days of Iraq's independence.
From 1951 to 1952, between 120,000 and 130,000 Iraqi Jews (around 75% of the Iraqi Jewish community) were airlifted to Israel in Operation Ezra and Nehemiah,[4] [5][6] via Iran or Cyprus.
