Gudur junction railway station (station code:GDR)[1] is located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, serves Gudur in Nellore district. It is a major junction station with branch lines to Arakkonam Junction and Katpadi Junction . It is under the administration of Vijayawada railway division of South Central Railway zone.[2]
History
The Vijayawada-Chennai link was established in 1899.[3]
The Chirala-Elavur section was electrified in 1980-81.[4]
Classification
Gudur railway station is an ‘A’–category station. It is recognized as a Model station and Adarsh station in the Vijayawada railway division.[5][6]
Busy station
Gudur Junction have lifts in all the platforms and Escalator on first platform. [7] Daily 177 trains, including 90 express trains and 10 passenger trains originate and pass through this station.[8]

Amenities
Gudur Junction has computerised reservation facilities (with all-India linkage), waiting room, retiring room, light refreshment facilities and book stall. SCR recently installed Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM)s in Gudur station.[9]

There is a new proposal by Indian Railway that to increase platforms from 3 to 7 platforms
