Ongole railway station (station code:OGL)[1], located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, serves Ongole in Prakasam district. It is administered under Vijayawada railway division of South Central Railway zone. [2]
History
The Vijayawada-Chennai link was established in 1899.[3]
The Chirala-Elavur section was electrified in 1980-81.[4]
Classification
Ongole railway station is an ‘A’–category station. It is recognized as a Model station and Touch & Feel (Modern Stations) in the Vijayawada railway division.[5][6]
Development
SCR recently installed Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM)s in this station and also having escalator facility in first flatform, lift facility available in third flatform.[7]
