Gattu Battu is an Indian animated television series produced by Toonz Animation which airs on Nickelodeon India. The show premiered on 1 May 2017.[1][2]

The show showcases the story of two friends Gattu and Battu who run a detective and security agency.[3][4]

Plot

In the town of Vishrampur, two friends Gattu and Battu run a security and detective agency. Battu is the brain of the party and Gattu is courageous one who fights and beats the villains.[5][6]

Sher Singh, the Don of Vishrampur envies Gattu Battu as they fail all Sher Singh's invasions. He makes new plans- such as defeating Gattu Battu with the help of gadgets, or hiring some special people. Gattu Battu sometimes get trapped in Sher Singh's plans.

They teach a lesson to Sher Singh once they are fooled. They make plans with the help of their friends, Ting Tong and Dr. Bhatawadekar. Ting Tong is Gattu Battu's sidekick who does all the household work. He knows a little martial arts. His one weakness is- he loses his memory and becomes that thing (often an animal) in mind. Dr. Bhatawadekar is a scientist. He creates gadgets for Gattu Battu. Battu often mistakes his traps for daily-life things. So with the help of them, Gattu Battu defeat the villains.

Characters

  • Battu: Battu is the brain of the duo and has a sixth sense which helps him sense danger.
  • Gattu: Gattu is the fighter of the duo. He's courageous and righteous. He gets energy from carrots. He becomes furious if someone injures his friend Battu.
  • Sher Singh: Sher Singh is the main antagonist and don of vishrampur. He has two sidekicks, Danya and Banya, all three often being fooled by Gattu in fights. His catchphrase is "Destruction's second name is Sher Singh!"
  • Ting Tong: Ting Tong is Gattu and Battu's goofy sidekick. He knows some martial arts. If he bangs his head with some thing, he loses his memory and then the thing, person or animal he first looks at after his memory loss, he behaves like that thing, person or animal, which is a running gag in the show. If somebody hits him on his head, he becomes normal. His best friend is Dr. Bhatawadekar. Ting tong is the security incharge . He talks in Nepali accent.
  • Dr. Bhatawadekar: Dr. Bhatawadekar is a scientist and he creates gadgets for Gattu and Battu. He has hearing problems. His best friend is Ting Tong. Sometimes, Battu uses Bhatawadekar's traps as daily- life things.
  • Danya: He is a sidekick of Sher Singh and his best friend is Banya. He says after Sher Singh's catchphrase, "So who is Destruction's first name?"
  • Banya: He is a sidekick of Sher Singh and his best friend is Danya. He often mistakes Sher Singh's idioms as real sentences and says, "Katti Batti".
  • Bima: He is best friend of Sher Singh and also his gang member. Bima wears an orange T-shirt and sky blue pants. He has hairs on his backside of head not on upper area of his head. He is most powerful members of Sher Singh's gang. Bima is like a wrestler. His talking accent is like of Shakti Kapoor.
  • Inspector Manmaani: He is police inspector of Vishrampur. He likes to drink tea. He is jealous of Gattu Battu. His best friend is Hawaldar Chammach singh. He talks in a stereotypical Bihari accent.
  • Chammach singh: He is police hawaldar and best friend of inspector Manmaani and he always gives tea to Manmaani.
  • Mantriji (Chief Minister): He is the chief minister of Vishrampur and the other neighbouring cities. He gives rewards to Gattu Battu while they catch a thief. In some episodes, he is plump whereas in some episodes, he is slim with moustache.

Film

A made-for-television film titled Gattu Battu in the Time Machine was premiered on Nickelodeon India on 15th August 2018.

Reception

  • Gattu Battu music video garnered 2.7 million views in three weeks on YouTube.[7]
